Where Nature Meets Community

About Us

Stonethwaite Farm & Campsite is nestled in the heart of Borrowdale Valley, our family-run campsite offers a peaceful escape surrounded by breathtaking fells, a meandering river, and an abundance of wildlife. Wake up to the sound of birdsong, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and step straight into nature’s playground. Whether you’re here for an action-packed adventure or a quiet retreat, there’s something for everyone.

Hike the rugged trails of Langstrath Fell, take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters of the river, or simply unwind with a cup of tea as the sun sets behind the hills. At night, swap stories under a starlit sky, with only the gentle rustling of the trees and the distant call of an owl to interrupt the peace.

Disconnect from the everyday, reconnect with nature, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

CAMPSITE UPDATE - PLEASE READ

We’re working hard behind the scenes to bring you an incredible countryside escape, but due to unforeseen water infrastructure challenges, our campsite opening has unfortunately been delayed until March 2026.

Whilst this wasn’t the plan, and we know many of you will be equally disappointed, we’re 100% committed to ensuring that when we do open, we provide the best possible experience for families, with top-quality facilities and a truly relaxing and safe stay in the heart of nature.

In the meantime, the farm remains open and bustling with activity! We have plenty in store – from fresh, turkey sales for Christmas, to exciting seasonal events and unique farm experiences that we can’t wait to share.

Please sign up to our mailing list to be the first to hear about upcoming events, special offers, and our grand opening plans.

Whether you’re setting off on a Wainwright hike, taking a refreshing dip in the river, or exploring the ancient Borrowdale Rainforest, adventure is always just outside your tent. As a working farm, you’ll also see Herdwick sheep grazing the fells, offering a glimpse into the traditional farming life of the Lake District.

Evenings are best spent unwinding under the stars, enjoying a BBQ with family and friends, and soaking in the tranquility of your surroundings. Whether you’re here for adventure or relaxation, Stonethwaite Farm & Campsite is the perfect place to reconnect with nature.
